A Guide to Pay Per Click

Pay per click is the Internet advertising model where advertisers pay to their host only when a visitor clicks on their advertisement. On major search engines, there are 300 million searches each day, causing 80% internet traffic. Cost per click is the money that advertisers pay to search engines for a single click on their ad for each visiting customer to their website. Top placement is given to the highest bidder of a particular phrase or word.

Websites utilizing Pay Per Click will display the ad when there is a match of keyword query with the keyword list of the advertiser. Though there are several PPC providers, Yahoo Search Marketing, Google AdWords and Microsoft adCenter are the three biggest network operators. It is easy to manage 24 hours a day with the help of certain tools, and by using right keywords and creativity, attract right customers. To make pay per click work for you, choose more specific and descriptive search items that describe and reflect your product or service.

You need to target your online advertisements around the business priorities such as most profitable products, seasonal purchase, and so on. In the case of flat-rate pay per click, publisher and advertiser agree on a fixed amount payable for each click. The agreed amount is based on the content of the pages, and content that usually attracts more visitors have higher Cost Per Click. This type of model is common to comparison shopping engines that publish the rate cards, but these prices are usually minimal and for more visibility, the advertisers can pay more.

The bid-based model involves a contract signed by the advertiser that allows them to compete with several other advertisers in the auction hosted by the advertising network or publisher. This word attracts just the lookers and not many buyers. For any PPC campaign, certain management tools are necessary, as they make the job much easier by automating several processes that you need to monitor or manage to make sure that your PPC revenues are being used wisely. Although there is a good blend of PPC marketing networks, Google AdWords, Yahoo, Ask Follow and MSN are the major players.

All the PPC networks strictly restrict the kind of copy that will appear in the listing of the search engines and look at the advertising text as well as the link pointer before approving it for publication.

AdWords Pay per Click Advertising

PPC is a technique used by website owners in order to determine a way that they can charge their advertisers when internet users go to their websites by clicking on to advertisement banners on their websites.  Neither the website owner nor search engines are charged with determining how the advertiser is going to pay for this service. Google has recorded AdWords as its highest source of revenue and it is used in implementing the PPC technique. AdWords makes it possible for text and banner advertisements to be addressed to a targeted audience using PPC. Since all that Google requires of people is the internet and creativity, this technique is now being used in many different parts of the world.

There are two main ways that advertisers can determine how much they should be charged for advertising. They can either use a flat rate or one based on bids. In order to decide, the advertiser needs to be aware of the number of visitors that visit that website and the chances of those people also visiting his or her website. This can be determined by the type of audience the advertiser is targeting.  It is important for the advertiser and the website owner to share the same target audience as this will improve the chances of visitors clicking on the adverts. It is also important to consider the number of sales conversions one might get. If the audiences of both the advertiser and the website owner are the same, there are higher probabilities that they visitors might buy the product being advertised. Advertisers can determine the type of audience by the search terms internet users input in the query box or based on the context of the pages they are viewing.

AdWords advertisements are all placed on Google search engine as well as other networks that have partnered with Google. Google determines which adverts should be placed on search results pages based on the results that have been yielded. This means that the adverts are tailored to specifically fit into the needs of the internet user putting into consideration where they are located and what time it is there. Research from many search engines shows that although people who log very late at night generate much traffic for a site, they do not necessarily make any purchases especially if they are not searching for something work-related. However, when a person logs in at night and they are searching for a product, that person is more likely to be a sales lead that can later be converted into a sale.

Pay Per Click Campaigns

Just as advertisers buy advertising time on TV programs during which they run their ads, Pay Per Click (PPC) enables website owners to buy space in search results to promote his business- that is where Pay Per Click campaigns must begin. The website owner has to pay the search engine for the location of his listing – just at in newspapers where front page ads cost the most, the PPC listing get more expensive the higher in the results they are. When a person does a search using one of the well known search engines, the page of results that opens has two categories of results – the general search results that fill most of the page and the highlighted ones that occupy a prominent and eye catching position on the page. It is these “special” results – the ones that are noticed fist – that are PPC listings.

Being so prominently placed on the search result page means that your listing will attract eyeballs with a larger likelihood of people clicking your link as compared to those in the general results. But not all PPC listings are equal; there are usually a few of them and here too the ones at the top of the list will get the most responses. Just like paying more for an ad on the most popular pages of the newspaper, you will need to pay more for a PPC listing that is high on the list – the higher up, the most expensive it will be is the thumb rule of  Pay Per Click campaigns .

PPC has the advantage of being more targeted than conventional advertising – you do not pay a fixed sum for a PPC listing – you will pay the search engine only for each person that clicks on your link to visit your website. While this does not guarantee sales, it does mean that you are paying only for the people who follow your PPC link – the ones who are interested in what you have to offer and who are, in turn, the most likely to buy from you. The great advantage of PPC is that you will know how many people clicked on your link since you will be billed for this and you are not paying for search engine users who have not visited your site. Knowing how many people followed your PPC link and balancing that against the increase in sales will allow you to judge how effective the Pay Per Click campaign has been and if the returns do not justify the expenditure, you can stop and think of other options.

Search Engine Optimization Explained For Dummies

Search engine optimization is, in its most basic form, the art of building your website in such a way that when people use search engines to look for information related to what your site contains, they will find you at the top of the results. While search engines are a boon for people looking for information, the draw back is that they usually perform too well. That may sound odd, but when you consider that a search for a popular subject or product can throw up a hundreds of thousands of results, you will understand who is going to hunt through all that material for find what is wanted? The websites that attract the most visitors are those that come up highest in the search engine results – if not at the top, then in the first page (or at lest the second).

A search engine works by using the keywords that people type into it to look for relevant websites and when the search is complete, the engines produces pages of results. Where your website appears in these results will depend on how relevant the search engine thinks it is to the keywords it was searching for. That means that the more often the search word or phrase appears in your website, the more relevant the search engine will think your site is to the search. This is search engine optimization explained in its simplest form.

Many people fall into the temptation of using the keywords too often in their web pages which not only makes the text look forced and unnatural, it also puts search engines off because the advances in search technology means that these engines can detect web pages that are filled with keywords only for the sake of giving them a better ranking in the search results. A website that sells coffee makers and uses these words 75 times in a page containing 700 words of text will be ignored by search engines because it is an obvious case of artificially forcing keywords to get higher ranking and has nothing to do with the relevance of the site. There are also many unethical ways of optimizing your site such as using hidden keywords and participation in link farms but search engines are becoming more sophisticated every day and this kind of unethical optimization will get caught sooner or later, resulting in the website being removed from the search results.

A great website is not guarantee of success – there is far too much competition to sit back and relax without making every effort to get traffic to your site. The most effective way of doing this is by making your site search engine friendly. Optimization involves a great deal more, but this is the basic concept of search engine optimization explained.

Bitmojis in the Real World?

Starting last week Snapchat released mini customizable virtual characters. You can access the virtual characters through the phones rear facing camera.

The virtual avatar app, Bitmoji, acquired $64 million last year. Snapchat Inc. hopes this will open a door to Augmented Reality (AR). Augmented Reality is the integration of digital information with the user’s environment in real time. “More than a third of Snapchat’s 173 million daily active users interact with its AR camera filters, dubbed lenses, every day, according to the company.” (Alex Heath from Business Insiders). Snapchat first introduced the geofilter back in 2015 and then added the World Lenses this year, 2017.

Snap started hiring performance artists and animators to design the 3D characters. Snapchat requires users to download the original app called Bitmoji. Bitmoji is the app that lets users create their customizable virtual character.

They have yet to make money off of Bitmoji, and it’s unclear if that is their intentions.

Is Article writing taking over from SEO

Well, is it? Is article writing taking over from SEO, or search engine optimization, as a means of getting you free traffic? There are no longer any doubts that Google loves content distributed on article directories, and that their so-called duplicate content penalty appears to be applied more leniently to articles published on multiple directories than to website content.

Before discussing that, lets get one fact put right immediately. Traffic gained from SEO optimization of your website is not free, and neither is traffic gained from intelligent use of article marketing, and writing articles in such a way as to persuade readers to visit your website. Each of these cost you a lot in time or payment for the software needed to do it properly. The alternative is to have others do it for you.

For some reason, professional search engine optimization services are much more expensive than professional article ghostwriting, even though the latter can get you more traffic than the SEO expert. Why is this, and how can I justify saying that? Here are some reasons why many believe article writing to be taking over from SEO optimization as the main means of getting traffic to your website.

  1. Articles can target web pages more effectively than SEO. Sure, each page should have its individual optimization, and it will help to improve your search engine results position (SERPS). However, an article that is published in hundreds of directories and ezines can get you far greater exposure through:
  2. a) Readers using the article directory to find out more about their niche. In spite of disbelievers, many people read the articles that are published on article directories. b) Those who like your article so much that they copy it and paste it on their own website. To do this legally, they have to retain your authors resource in which you advertise your website and product. c) Google and other search engines will list your article if it deems it relevant to a search being carried out. You have a better chance of your article being listed from a directory page than from one on your own website due to the generally higher PageRank of such directories. d) People read articles and web content on other web pages, which includes a, b and c above.
  3. People are increasingly looking for information online. Although it could be argued that the internet has always been a source of information, as an increasing number of people are stopping work, voluntary or enforced, in todays economic situation, they are looking to the web to provide them with a means of supplementing their income.
  4. An increasing number of people are teaching themselves to write, and those that cannot are offering work to freelance writers and article ghost writers. Consequently, content is become increasing more expert and believable, and good website content is expected rather than sought after. Blogs are becoming as important as web pages, and content published on social bookmarking and social networking sites is also being increasingly shared across the web.
  5. Finally, but by no means the only other reason why article writing has become so important to webmasters seeking to improve the flow of traffic to their websites, is the increase in domains being registered. The more domains there are online, then the more competition there is, and hence the more important the quality of content and also the way that content is promoted and accessed by those looking for it.

If you dont know how to promote your website through writing articles, or using article marketing in a truly professional fashion, then you will fall behind your competitors. It is essential that you understand what SEO is, and how article marketing can be used to write articles and distribute them as they have to be for maximum impact.

Without this expert knowledge you will be left behind in the technological revolution that the internet and World Wide Web have become, and remain in the hinterland of marketing. There are many ways in which you can learn how to use these modern advertising tools to your advantage, and he who does so best will be the most successful.

Is article writing taking over from SEO? You bet it is!

Insights On Pay Per Click Costs

Pay per click costs is ever so high for advertisers in the billion dollar industry. In the recent past, pay per click advertising has grown to great heights but in the same breathe, there are many concerns.   Keywords see to it that search engine marketing of this kind works. Some keywords will be more valuable than others and this can be determined by relevance and importance. It is becoming important for all advertisers to look at ways to cut costs where they can. In many instances, they will pay for advertising that will not yield much. In other words, adverts might appear on sites that do not have enough or relevant traffic.

Through pay per click, readers can read about the products and services they are looking for and when they click on ads present, this will have implications. This system is designed to help all people but problems come in when 80% of all people never take time to click on the advertisements. For this reason, those who have a lot to loose or gain take steps to get the system working for them. The growth of pay per click costs is dramatic and each year is recording higher costs for advertisers. During holidays, these costs will usually double and this has been observed.

Major search engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo will have certain start prices they set for their keywords. Pay per click costs have been some of the major sources of income for search engines. Success on advertisers will be based on the kind of keywords they choose to have so that the high costs can be cut.   Among others, use of negative keywords will see advertisers reduce costs dramatically. These are words that might help retain relevance where search queries are concerned. For details on this, there are many sites to get information and Luna metrics is a good resource.

It is vital to note that out of 5 readers, only 1 will be reported to click on an ad they are interested in and this is how it is. The costs can be too high and the returns too low. However, more and more advertisers are biting the bullet and making the system work by looking for methods to keep pay per click costs low. However, many advertisers are going a different direction with advertising. Many have settled on search engine optimization for organic traffic. Many seem to be comfortable with this method as more and more gains continue to be reported without exorbitant costs.
